This drama is about Moriguchi Keijiro, a retired doshin or a police officer in Edo early in the 19th century. When he was active in service, he was well-known for his generosity and kindness. After his retirement, Keijiro became a caretaker of a merchant’s villa in Negishi. Still various troubles needing help are brought to him who solves each case while enjoying warm exchanges with his close friends, Otose, Sashichi, Kichiji, and Tatsukichi. By helping people and seeing their sorrow and joy in their lives, Keijiro overcomes his own grief and finds happiness in his life.
